Today in Riverside history on July 21st, 1926, the Crown Prince Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden dined at the Mission Inn Spanish Patio, together with his wife Princess Louise.
They toured Riversides extensive orange groves and then dined at the banquet held in their honor. The prince said of his surroundings “Of all the hotels I have visited in the United States, I have never seen one to compare with the Mission Inn.” The Crowned prince would later become King Gustavus VI Aldophus, reigning from 1950 to 1973.
